SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner

New Technology Sets

New Price - Performance Ratio.

The SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner is the new state-of-the-art digital film scanner for 16 mm and 35 mm film stock.

The intuitive design meets the demands for a high quality but cost effective solution.
The SteadyFrame Scanner is mainly designed for archive scanning, for scanning great quantities in short time at a high quality without harming the film material. Also it can been easily used for daily post operating.
The design and materials used are durable and robust, to guarantee stability in quality and workflow at the same time as careful processing of older film stock.
The SteadyFrame scanner is dependable and simple to use, so there is no skilled operator needed and labour costs can be reduced.

Handling
The intuitive design of the graphical user interface enables to quickly understand how to operate this tool. The touchscreen interface is easy to access at the front of the scanner housing, so all menus lay as close as a fingertip. During scanning the preview can be switched to a full screen mode.
Film Transport System
The mechanical film transport is developed by Kinoton. Kinoton is the leading source in handling film in projectors and is a specialist for studio projectors. The film transport system of the Universal Format Scanner is designed for an easy exchange between 35 mm and 16 mm film scanning. Obviously the film transport is already designed for 25 fps.
Software Based Image Stabilisation
The heart of the SteadyFrame Universal Format Scanner is the PRS™ (Perforation Recognition System). Together with specialists from the University of Applied Sciences Munich, P+S Technik developed the software based image stabilization.
The replacement of mechanical image stabilisation modules provides several important advantages:
- Careful handling of archive film (sprocket-free transport)
- The handling of different perforation patterns
e.g. 3perf or 2perf, perforation types and pitches (e.g. BH, KS, CS1870) and film formats (e.g. positive, negative and    intermediate) are hardware independent. Therefore the necessary change of the setup in order to scan different    types of film is reduced to a simple update of settings
- The applied pattern recognition algorithms
enable an uncomplicated, retroactive implementation of currently unknown film formats, perforation patterns and    types or aspect ratios.
Capturing Unit
The exchangeble capturing module allows technological growth in the direction of real time scanning.
Light Source
LED’s are the open secret to the Steady Frame Universal Format Scanner excellent lighting. The RGB LED light optimises the usable colour space for post production. The illumination parameters allow any given film stock to be repeated. The present strength of illumination is powerful enough for 25 fps.
Further advantages of the LED source are less heat development, low power consumption and long life time.
Data Output
The final frame storage and optional compression is performed on a remote PC using the the SteadyFrame Transcoder Software in order to generate and save the frames in the preferred output format. Data exchange (single frame wise) is performed via Ethernet.
The Transcoder Software supports well-established file formats, like DPX 10bit, TIFF 8/16bit and CineForm Intermediate.
